Reflecting On 2019

It's hard to believe we're at the end of another year! 2019 seems to have flown by, and yet the fact that just six months ago we were living in a different home in a different community feels like such a long time ago!

As always, I've taken some time to reflect on the past year.

Looking Back On the Year's Highlights

1. What were the highlights or accomplishments of the past year?
  • Moving to our new home! We had looked at a house earlier in the year and thought it might be the one, but we weren't ready to sell ours, so before we could make an offer someone else bought it. But God's timing is perfect...as soon as we saw this one, we knew it was for us, and the day we decided to put an offer on this house, we received an offer on ours. We were able to get the possession date we needed as well!
2. What were the major themes of the past year?
  • Completing projects on our previous house
  • Listing our home and househunting
  • Moving and more projects!
  • Changes for family members; jobs, relationships, direction

3. What disappointments or regrets did you experience?
  • Not even one tiny regret! We found our perfect retirement house and we're loving our new community.
  • Well...maybe one regret! I haven't been consistent with maintaining healthy habits; my diet hasn't been good, and I've been taking supplements sporadically at best. That needs to change!
  • My only disappointment is knowing that although all of my children have made professions of faith, not all of them are living a life of faith or showing the fruit of a life lived well for Christ...and disappointment in myself for being complacent in prayer for them.

4. What was missing from the past year?
  • Free time...but what's new?!
  • Seeing family...Jeremy is in Nova Scotia and managed to get home for a short visit when we were moving, but didn't make it home for Christmas. Lorne and Naomi are in Alberta and haven't been able to get home at all this year.

5. What did you learn from the past year?
  • Not really learned this year, but proven again...Consistency is not my strong suit...in many areas. I set good goals, organize and make great plans, get off to a good start, but somewhere along the way, my enthusiasm wanes, or I get distracted. I AM happy that I managed to keep up my Proverb for the day post...not so happy about slacking off on maintaining good health habits. Something to work on for the coming year.

Our main focus the first few months of the year was finishing up projects on our house and having it ready to list by March. The other focus was on finding a new home! All of that was completed by mid-June when we moved to our new home.

Then came the summer projects that needed to be done...a fence, a dog kennel, getting some trees trimmed, and last but not least...building a deck so we can enjoy our beautiful view!

Once we had the house ready for winter we were able to settle in and relax. We already have projects planned for spring and summer, but for now, we've moved indoors to enjoy the time we have sitting in front of our fireplace.

I'm looking forward to what the new year brings!
