Promises from Psalms; Psalm 27:5

This past week, I was able to spend a few days sitting with my mom, saying goodbye to her before she went home to be with Jesus. Knowing that she would be going to a place 'Where the storms never darken the skies' gave me peace and made it so much easier to say goodbye for now.

Psalm 27:5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: In the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me;He shall set me up upon a rock.

I should never be surprised at God"s timing or how he uses little things in life to make his presence known and to bring us comfort.

This week, my granddaughter was trying to remember a song that talked about thunder. As she was looking through the hymn book she came to the song, Till the storm passes by, and thought that must be the one. It occurred to me that this song was a good illustration of this verse. The storm may be howling about me, and I may want to hide, but all I need to do is cry out to the Lord and trust him to bring me through whatever comes my way. Although God doesn't always physically deliver us from all of our troubles, he does provide a place of peace and shelter from any storm we are going through.

Till The Storm Passes by Mosie Lister

In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face
While the storm howls above me, and there's no hiding place
'Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry
Keep me safe till the storm passes by
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand
Keep me safe till the storm passes by

Many times Satan whispered, "There is no need to try
For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by"
But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise
Where the storms never darken the skies

Join me again next week as I look at another promise from Psalms.

Meditating on God's promises found in Psalm 27:5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: In the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me;He shall set me up upon a rock.
